More often than not, those who are in the business of trading of stock options hear that most of the money made in trading options comes from selling rather than buying stock options.

The reason for that is the fact that stock options will lose their entire premium by the time they expire. So options are wasting assets. It has been estimated that about 60% of the options that are out-of-the-money when they are sold will ultimately expire worthless.
